The Banff Mountain Film Festival comes to Springfield!
Phormation Media Group is pleased to announce that for the first time ever, The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is coming to Springfield, Missouri! Thursday, September 15 at 6pm, the doors of the historic Gillioz Theatre in downtown Springfield will open to attendees of the largest film festival Springfield has ever hosted! The best outdoor films from around the globe have been hand-picked by the Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta, Canada to tour 32 different countries, and now they're making their way to southwest Missouri. These inspiring and visually stunning films are not just highlight videos of extreme sports. Collectively, they're a demonstration of the power of the human spirit, as filmmakers from around the world risk their lives to tell each story. From the highest peaks and the wildest waters, to the depths of the earth... whether you're a skilled technical climber, or simply a fan of storytelling and film, there's something for everyone!
While this is the first time Springfield has hosted the event, it is our goal to make this the First Annual showing of The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour in Springfield, Missouri! This is an opportunity for all outdoor enthusiasts in the area to come together for a night of celebrating the activites that they enjoy, but can't always do in this region. After the event, we hope you'll join us for the official post-festival celebration, as festival-goers talk shop and swap stories of their biggest adventures!
Because this is the first event of its kind in the area, and because a large portion of the proceeds will directly benefit the James River Basin Partnership, it is likely that tickets for this event will sell-out! The James River Basin Partnership is a non-profit organization whose mission is "working to protect and improve the water quality in our springs, streams, rivers, and lakes." Their vision is that the waterways in this region will continue to offer "clean water for you, your children, and your grandchildren." This is what it's all about - good people doing great things!
